If the owner is interested in selling, you just have to come up with a price that is acceptable to both parties. Forum valuations seem to range between 10 and 36 months revenue. That's quite a range.

If the forum is very active, the owner may not be interested in selling.

Once the deal is done, then there is a lot of work to be done in making the handover without losing momentum by alienating current forum members and moderators.

Are you an active and well liked member of the forum now?
