I am sorry, it seems that I am not really clear. Let me describe this in more details.

Recently I asked on another thread following question. Is there a way to create a forum that access can be granted individually regardless usergroup membership. Such forum should be only visible to users for whom this access was granted to. . Based on advice I followed three steps:

1. I have created new "private forum".
2. I edited forum permissions and set all usergroups to "no" for access to this "private forum".
3. I left users as they were and I used the access masks option when editing a user and I allowed them access individually to this "private forum".

So as you see the results achieved had nothing to do with putting people to special usergroup. I was hoping that somehow similar strategy could be automated at registration. For now I want to add access to "private forum" I have to do it manually to each user I want to give access to.

Your proposed concept is a good one, but I really would like to avoid creating special usergroups with permissions to special forums.
