There are many questions that come up regarding running multiple forums on multiple domains using the same installation. The part of the license agreement in question here is - Each licence may power one instance of the Software on one domain. One instance means one forum, one installation, and one set of content. One domain means exactly that - however, there are exceptions to the one domain rule.

Specific cases:
Your forum is accessable from multiple domains but the content is the same for each link. This is OK and does not require multiple licenses. My site is an example of a multi-domain setup that is allowed:

http://www.mscclan.com/forum/
http://www.macsubculture.com/forum/
http://www.mac-gamer.com/forum/

Notice how each domain points to exactly the same content.
Your forum is accessable from multiple domains but each domain shows a different forum style. This is OK and does not require multiple licenses.
Your forum is accessable from multiple domains and your forums are configured to show/hide certain forums based on the domain. This is not OK and requires an active vBulletin license for each domain. In this situation the forums appear to have separate content thereby making them separate forums in the eyes of the license agreement. Your forum content needs to be the same for each domain in order to qualify as a single forum.
in reference to the famous quote noted above.

i want to do basically the same thing as those forums are doing (which is allowed by vb TOS). the question is how is it done?

I'm assuming some kind of ReWrite in the htacess? or maybe a weird redirect (doubt it but dont know).

My situation ispretty much as above, having 3 domains I want to all use the same single vb install, same content of course (so as not to break TOS) 3 different domains that all point to the same forum BUT will show three different URLs when accessed/used from the respective domains link.

I tried a link from each domains 'home' page to the installed vb forum but of course the URL changes to the installed location instead of keeping the domain name of the URL the user is coming from (as in the above example where depending which link you pick, you get the same forum but with a different url ex 123domain . com/forums OR ABCdomain. com/forums).

Anyone doing this? or know how?

Thanks for any help or How-To!
