I would go to Styles & Templates > Search In Templates

In the Search For Text box put posticons . It should bring up the templates that have this in them. I would start by removing the code $posticons from both newreply and newthread templates so no one could click on them anymore.

When I removed the posticon template totally it removed the posticons from the newreply and newthread templates also. Don't know how this will affect everything in the long run. Just trying to help out.
