It was no problem.

I found where to change the second setting. "Can View Others' Events" I take it this should be set to yes? When I attempt to check the yes, I receive a pop up that tells me custom permissions for this usergroup need to be enabled. This is somewhere else in the Admin panel? Would this be something I could locate on my own by referring to the vB Manual?
That screen is for setting a custom permission for that specific calendar. If you just want to set the Unregistered usergroup to be able to see events in more of a general sense, go to:

Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > Edit the Unregistered usergroup > scroll to Calendar Permissions > Can View Others' Events > Yes

You'll understand this more if you create more than just one calendar. The Custom Permissions are so that you can have those people be able to view events on one calendar but not another.

And yes, this should be in the manual. I'm not one for manuals though.

In the Admin panel it provides an area where we can add a new calendar. I assumed this meant there were other styles of calendar out there and evidently we are only able to use the same default calendar more than once at the site. I was thinking there might be more attractive calendars out there that would be easier on the eyes.
No, there aren't other layouts or anything like that. Think of it like this. If you had a site that catered to the public as well as members of a paid sort of membership group, you could have a public calendar as well as a members only calendar. This is what I have set up on one forum. The public can't even see the second calendar, much less the events on it.

This vB user has 3.7 and their calendar seems to have a larger layout too. Do you think this could be a default and the reason why our calendar isn't expanding is because we don't currently have more than one event on any date?
http://www.newmusicstage.com/calendar.php?
Yes, I believe that's it. More events push the boxes out and they appear larger.

I like the way your calendar allows someone to click for more information. Why do you think our events aren't clickable?
No idea off the top of my head. I just registered at your site and I can click on events just fine.

This particular hack seems to do what we wanted-

We're 3.7 and that's 3.6 which makes us nervous.

What do you think?
I use that mod on my 3.6 board and the fact that it hasn't been updated is the very reason why I haven't updated that forum to 3.7. I don't want to take the risk, but that's just me. The coder of the mod seems to have dropped development of it. Without the calendar, our site is MUCH less useful to the group. If you look at page 39 of that mod's thread, you'll see that someone has been able to get it to work on 3.7. So, you could give it a shot. If I were you, I'd use a test board to try it out first though.

You might want to add your requests for more calendar features to the Feedback and Suggestions thread on vB's main site here. I started that thread since calendars are so important to one of my boards.
