So you have to admit, setting permissions like i said is much better for people to understand. Exclusion is not really the solution here.
Categories or even single Files should be able to be set to a certain usergroups / s only. At least Categories. For files too that would be maybe too much to ask, but the categories should be never the less. It is that way in ANY other Download Script, if its an external Software or a Mod for other Forum Softwares, like i had before.

When you exclude a category, they shouldn't even be able to see the link to that cat in order to be getting that error message. The cat link is removed from the main page for them, and if that the only subcat in a top cat their allowed to see, then it will be treated as empty.
