I'm running 3.6.12 and v2.0.6 of your hack.

You may define a different placeholder in the options, such as a HTML comment, e.g. , which is then hidden to browsers, if the banner plugin isn't called for some reason. You will have to change the placeholder in the options and in the templates to make this work
