I designed that style, it's just a generic very simple style without the cherrys on top. There's no rule that states that a graphic site needs to have a heavy intensive graphic theme. afterall, we are not stylers, we are graphic/image designers and that is how i looked at it (I mainly design a generic style because i'm lazy) I had a snazzy style it took to much time to maintain when the updates came along.
Keep it simple, you'll thank yourself for it all the more esp in the long run. Concentrate on what your offering and that is graphics which will eliminate most of your time maintaining styles.
