The homepage was done in order to promote simplicity and usability actually as far as the content is concerned. Got the concept from iGoogle. I woulda gone the image-powered, magazine styled route, but i didn't feel it fit the part for now, which is why i adapted some of iGoogle's usability approaches.
Working on minimizing navigation clutter, as I can see how it'd be an issue.

That's a good point. I work on a high resolution so it doesn't really get to me, but i can definitely see why it'd get to others with a lower resolution. When you mention options, are you talking only in terms of the navigation bar? The developer's toolbar shouldn't ever show in conjunction with the normal icons.
