Most Japanese enjoy great speeds at home. They also enjoy keeping us westerners out of their P2P networks by enforcing minimum transfer speeds that are hard to maintain from a residential cable or DSL connection on this side of the world.

Nearly everyone over there has fiber running into their home. The unlucky ones might still be on a DSL connection but it still offers service far faster than you'll see offered in the states or Canada.
