I can help him there, I attached some darker images for the navbits an your collapse images. Either zipped or individual, but they have transparent as is.

Extended header I know what he means, but adding blue background color might be easier since it's a fluid width. I did mouse over the header image to see if those where image mapped links. I think that style could work for the site if it had more content that people went there for. Funny I searched with live search at the few top sited have vbulletin with defualt images including forum icons. I think if you replace the rest of those defualt images to match your site, then you work on SEO an finding traffic an you'll be fine.
