Not so bad, especially for a first attempt.

1) You have a great navigation setup, why not work on the actual template design to compliment that well?
2) Your existing template places and unnecessary scroll on browsers.
3) I'd suggest minimizing the amount of forums you have, as you're just starting off and a load of forums with only a few posts (or even none) can be unappealing to many.
