Snyx, do you mean you have already attempted components of this, know the requirements and have deternined you could achieve it in 3 days? I ask because I am considering paying someone right now to create this hack for me ...
As BradC notes, and from reading many prior karma requests, apparently this feature-set is both:
(1) high in demand
(2) sufficiently complex so as not to want to simply give it away considering such hard work & resource time
Last I have followed,
wluke at one point was going to create this hack and release it here, but mostly due to (2) above, is reserving it for use at his sitepoint community, for competitive edge purposes (which makes perfect sense.)
Overgrow also created a karma hack, but chooses not to release it here, same reasons.
BradC and
ToraTora! were collaborating to solve their version of karma. But sounds like same thing -- (2) above.
So, seems one approach is to hire someone to hack a solution -- in which case you are paying for that person's time.
But because of (1) above, makes sense to me that someone might consider finding a way to
sell their already-completed hack code. Can someone explain to me the "rules", if any, about selling hack code? Is vB okay with this? Is it expressly prohibited? Is it "culturally" encouraged or discouraged?
I am already clear on the main issue that: vB will not officially support any user who has installed any hack code. But if a vB license holder chooses to buy and install hack code, does vB have a problem with this? Please give me the lowdown.
Thanks, Richard
