You should be able to do it quicker using the Permission Duplication Tools. Set the new usergroup to deny for one forum and then just copy the permissions for all the remaining forums. I haven't used that in a long time, but if i recall correctly, there should be a way to work it. Say for example you have forum 1 set so that all usergroups but the new one are allowed, you can then just copy those settings to all other forums by checking the boxes. I think that may copy the permissions for all other usergroups too though, so check that before you do anything
