This would really help big forums prevent votes being scattered over hundreds of posts. Also, this would help prevent the thread post from being obscured by children posts, which usually has less important content. Another possibility is to provide an option to assign more weight to the thread's post. Thanks for considering.

The mod can be set to ensure that only the first posts can be voted for, so that is more or less what you need I think.
