It there a way to log user action?

What I'm looking for is: A User posts something, then edits this text later. I'd like to be able to see his original posting.

Reason: User A posts something nasty about User B. User B complains to the moderator but before the moderator can check the posting, User A edits the posting so there is no evidence left of the nasty posting ...

Any ideas?
