Default what is core. ???
I have searched but could not find..

I have recently moved servers/hosts and whilst moving I noticed lots of files named "core.12345" etc and each was approx 30mb and took an eternity to upload for some reason.
Can anyone please tell me more about these files. On an early backup I noticed only one file and now ive got Thirteen.

Anyone please enlighten me?
