Zweeper, it should automatically update your status for an event when you select a different choice. It shouldn't be possible to have more than one response for a single day of a single event. If it is doing so, I'd need access to your forum to test it and see what is happening as this is not something that I have ever seen on my forum. However, one thing that I could suggest you check -- provided you are familiar with mysql or have a tool like phpmyadmin -- is to verify that the index uq_eventattendance__eventuser exists on the eventattendance table.
