A better referral system should have these features at minimum I think:
[list=1][*]Name the people, instead of using a number
IE: Referrals: 3 (john, james, whoever)[*]Maybe a popup window showing the names, cause some people will have a lot of referrals (same popup like the new REPLIES feature of vB2.03)
IE: Referrals: 3 (click the number so show referral names)[*]Top xx referrers display on the homepage.[*]Make the referrers link to their profiles.[/list=1]

It looks pretty easy if your a mySQL/PHP wizard....
