That's their problem rather than the games. I have known men to blow off friends/dates/anything to watch a football game, not for any particular reason - just because they wanted to watch the game.

If you aren't mature enough to budget your time and be considerate of others around you (including people in game), then it doesn't matter whether it's WoW, Halo, TV, Chatrooms, Forums, Coding, Horse Riding etc etc - it's the individual behaving selfishly and with lack of restraint.
