This is how the upgrade works.

If you're running 3.6.10 and go to head 3.7.0 (Gold, you'll won't have to deal with RC).

If you were using 3.7 beta, and decided to go to GOLD, you'll have to deal with the beta upgrade, and move to RC and from there, go to Gold.
