Can anyone design a mod that shows an Ajax real time update of threads as they're posted?

The feature i'm looking for is identical to the one in the Inferno Shoutbox Mod.

Every time someone posts a thread it displays in realtime in the chatbox.

I'd love to have a small box on my forum index that displays this, possibly in the header or alongside the navbar on the right.
