I'm kind of confused as to how the reputation icons work or what controls them. It appears the majority on our board would like to use the reputation system and as a designer I'm going to change the images of course to something more fitting of our site.

That isn't the problem.

The problem is I don't understand how I can control the imagery. I see that they use standard gifs and in the reputation system each new level of advancement apparently gives you another image of reputation_pos.gif. So if you're at level 4 of 10 it gives you 4 blocks.

I searched in the templates and found nothing.

I looked at the User Reputation options and found nothing.

I searched here and only found icon sets for them.

What I'd like to know is how can I use more than 10 levels of positive or negative for example, but keep the same amount of reputation gif blocks for certain sections of levels.

Meaning like the usergroup system, I have 50 user ranks, but you'll go through 5 or 6 different user titles before it gives you another user rank gif. How can I control that similarly with the reputation system?

I did graphics for another website years ago and I gave them 50 rep ranks, and 50 user ranks. They figured out a way to do it apparently as I remember, but the website is gone and the people are gone, so I have no one to ask as to how it's done.

This might be simple and I'm missing it, please let me know.

This is something I had in mind, can this be done or does it require coding changes to PHP or JS files?
