I've just got to over three thousand accounts once again - I purge inactive accounts every so often. In the two years since it came around, I think I've cleaned out about two thousand accounts. I only purge accounts with no post count and haven't logged in for ninety days, and I always use the board system to mail inactive accounts about to be deleted a month before, and then two weeks before. I never delete the accounts of people with posts.

As to why, the accounts I delete are often popular names, so someone may as well have the chance to use them, and it means I have a slightly more efficient database.
