chmod is the rights of the dir or file
there are 3 category's owner group and world
those 3 have 3 options
read write execute

ok thats to much for me i dont understand anything of this
so lets make it easy for you
download total commander
login on the server with that
go to the file that needs to be chmodded
select it
then at the top of total at the left i think it say in english FILE
klik it then choose change atributes

then you will understand everything there is about chmod
for noobs like us this is the way to understand something about this
