Hey guys -
Was wondering if it was possible to make a moderator/admin only bb-code box. I noticed someone had made such a modification to their site using phpBB3, and they posted how the did it, and what needed to be modified.

It didn't seem overly difficult, and i'm assuming the same can be done for vBulletin. Was wondering if anyone would be able to take a quick look and post back if they could do it or not.

Open posting.php
Find:

    $post_data['enable_sig']      = (!$config['allow_sig']) ? false : ((isset($_POST['attach_sig']) && $user->data['is_registered']) ? true : false);

After add:

    // Admin/Moderators BBcode only
        $mod_bbcode_auth = ( $auth->acl_get('a_') || $auth->acl_get('m_', $forum_id) ) ? TRUE : FALSE;
        if ( !$mod_bbcode_auth )
        {
           $message_parser->message = preg_replace("/\[mod=(.*?)\](.*?)\[\/mod\]/s", "", $message_parser->message);
        }

NOTE: only for styles based on prosilver.

Open common.css

Find:

.clear {
       display: block;
       clear: both;
       font-size: 1px;
       line-height: 1px;
       background: transparent;
    }

After add:

    .mod_edit {
       width: 230px;
       background: no-repeat 0 0 #FFFFFF url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/bg_mod_edit.gif");
       padding: 10px;
       border: 1px solid #ccc;
       font-size: .9em;
    }

    .mod_edit span {
       display: block;
       text-align: right;
       font-style: italic;
    }

Now go to your administration control panel, click on the tab "posting", then on bbcodes. Now create a new bbcode and fill in the following text:

Textbox 1:

    [mod={TEXT2}]{TEXT}[/mod]

Textbox 2:

    <div class="mod_edit">{TEXT}<span>{TEXT2}</span></div>

You can use it as a mod or admin in any post

    [mod=Robin Huurman]testing modcode[/mod]

The end result can be found on the linked page above. While i know its for phpbb3, i figure anyone who codes or knows how to make BB codes ( i personally do not) could easily make this. let me know.. looking forward to seeing if anyone knows.
