<a href="http://forums.theshadys.net" target="_blank">I use HostGator as well</a>. While I don't like some of the way it's setup (which is actually due to cpanel, so not much they can do about it), the service is excellent.

In terms of full customisation, try DreamHost. If you're after a mix and are in the UK/Europe, HostGator is a good choice due to the speed.
