I recently bought a good server and so far I am very content with it. Eva2000 and others helped me pick the optimal server:

Maxdata Platinum 500 | M6 (make sure to get the u3 variety, not the u5)
slide rack
2 x 600W power
mainboard intel s5000VSA V2
2 x quad core (8 CPU's) Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5345 @ 2.33GHz
2 x 1GB RAM (will upgrade this to 2x4GB later) Fully Buffered DIMM with ECC
6 x HDD 300GB 15K S SAS SEAGATE
2nd SAS/SATA backplane
double power supply
1 GB networks cards
extremely fast front bus
RAID 10

Some will say this is overkill, but I have been on a shared server and later on a low specs server and will take nothing less.
