I'm looking for the exact same functionality.
I also run a prent/children related forum, and my users have requested this - on a nice-to-have basis, that is.

It thought about custom profile fields, but as pointed out by Analogpoint, this approach would not quite cut it.
If anyone has any thoughts on this matter, I'd be very thankful.
Meanwhile, I'll check if vBAdvanced CMPS has something that might be helpful.
