yes they do, but this gives you a way to integrate it in to your forum with no template edits, and the option to turn it on or off. This also has a page to return the searches to, and on that page is a notice at the top that says

Can't find what you are looking for? Try vbulletin or our Advanced Search

(in that example "vbulletin" is the search term)

I think it is a good hack, and it is well-written, and I appreciate Princeton sharing it. I don't understand why you are so critical of it.
