I use Windows Vista Premium... My machine has an AMD Dual-Core Athlon X2 5000+ cpu, 3 GB of RAM, 8600 Gt Video Card, dual 19inch widescreen monitors and a 500 GB hard drive. I enjoy Vista much more than XP. It just seems a lot more polished.

For speed on your laptop, how much memory do you have? With Vista, you really need at least 2 GB of memory for best performance. Well XP works great with 2 GB of memory as well. Less and you will have speed issues from my experience. Most laptops don't come with 2 GB of memory. Also make sure that your processor is running at full speed when the laptop is plugged in. Newer mobile processors go into a slower speed mode when running on battery so that they conserve power better.
