Did you configure it to connect to an irc server and channel?
Many people this that this MOD/Addon is an all in one chat module, when it fact it is nothing more than an iRC chatroom *client. In other words, you need an running iRC server and channel in order to use this.

In case you knew all this, I threw a ping at irc.server.net and it came back invalid. AKA no good. So either you didn't fully configure your the plugin or... you do not have a working irc server address to point pjirc too.

PS. if you are looking for an all in one chatroom/ forum integration. I would suggest looking at the flashchat MOD. It will do everything in one package(easier to install too).
