I tried using a laptop as my main work PC for 3 years. Got sick of it. It ground to a halt, had to replace battery every 6months, and I found that I rarely took it around with me. Everyone has different needs. Personally, I'm not going to buy a laptop for the forseeable future as I spend enough time on the PC at work and evenings at home. Don't want to have another excuse to take a computer with me everywhere
