well it's not that difficult to hide away the attachments,
but it's not that easy to let them show up on thanks/reply again.. not with ajax,
you'd have to reload the entire page, I don't like that thought.

On the other hand: Someone may not want to hide an attachment, and that's where it starts to stumble.
too much querys for too less needs just tell your users how to hide them if they want them to be hidden
