They would look awfull alan because all emoticons I design are anti-aliased and you would gain that horrible jaggy edge and saving them to png would be possble but that would pose problems in certain members here selling images of mine when I'm providing them for free.

You are more than free to choose a matte colour if you are planning to use them.
