have a look at dreamhost - there's a thread on here about them somewhere too. I'm on a dedicated server but also have an account with dh.

The thing about them is how upfront they are about any problems they(and you) may be experiencing. Stark change from the denial mongers in a lot of other places.

They have vps type products too - dreamhost.com
