Based on my experience I had the same issue when I upgraded to vb368. After teh upgrade, the issue of quick reply being to small, suggested different ways to fix the issue and one among them was to increase the User Control Message Area Width.

Most likely that is your issue and I suggest you go to your skin Style Vars and alter this data to its appropriate value.
User Control Panel Message Area Width (pixels)
(This value represents the width in pixels of the message area in user control panel pages)
