Yes and No. You can rename it, but you must make a global search and replace of vbjournal.php in files:

vbjournal.php
product-vbjournal.xml

Please be carefull to avoid searching and replacing just for vbjournal as on this way you'll rename directory's name too and you'll be in troubles.
