Even if I don't have very clear knowledge about the differencies between Journal and Articles, I believe that everything is depending on the usergroup permissions. By using permission for posting to a small usergroup you can use it as Newspaper or Magazine. By giving permission to a large group you can use it as Articles, or Stories, or Jokes... anything.

If you can give me an example for a possible use, I can say you if it's for you or not.
