If you're lost on uploading, then you have greater problems then working with vBulletin's style and template interface. The average vbulletin Style will be uploaded using FTP to your forums root directory, or your forums 'images' directory.

The readme included in your zip file will direct you where to upload it. Then its a quick matter of uploading your XML in your admin panel's style manager.

As for a basic sort of direction, i know of none besides asking at the forum here... and even then, lots of the time they fail at being useful.
