We have completely modded reputation so that it assigns a law/choas and good/evil component, so it is possible.

There is a reputation.php in vb which handles all of this, and it comes with a few templates. I'd recommend having a read through this file, and then select a hook in which to create a plugin if you don't mind code living in a database field, or be a Real Man (tm) and mod the file directly.
