for your question im vote for this:
Same but Chatbox in global var instead under navbar (var has to be added in each concerned template)

I plan to release it this weekend but it'll maybe not contain all feature, especially the whosonline thing as I don't want to add a query in a session table for the chatbox as inferno shout.

So I have to think on a way to use the vbulletin online session thing but not sure how to do it for the moment.
