you should create .htaccess file in your forums folder as described in installation instructions for that, and make sure that your host supports mod_rewrite.

Sitemap will be re-generated automatically if you have a scheduled task setup in admincp as described.

It's required to let your sitemaps "appear" like they are in the forums root, while files are stored in vbseo_sitemap/data/ folder.
