The profiling system is actually a set of addons for both the guild master and the guild members. The guild members run one addon, and the Guild master runs two. Both addons drop into one .LUA file. It is this file that you upload whenever you are done playing wow.
Some may already be familiar with it, anyway, once done the profiling for vb would simply parse the profiling addon's saved variables and drop those into the DB, which vB would then pull to create the frontend for each individual caharacter, along with for the guild as a whole.
Currently I am using it to automate guild member registrations, so when a new member joins the guild, when I log out from that day and upload, that character's login is already created based on their guild rank. From there, if they are not a banker or "alt", then all their data will be accessible when they then upload in the future.
Hope this makes some sense, but while linking to the armory is one way of doing things, I prefer to have the information on the guild's website only, that way there is less of a security hazard, and it makes searching for individual recipes and what not a hell of a lot easier to code for.
One of the biggest things that we use it for is to keep track of who has what recipe for the guild. Works wonderfully for us.
