vb.org Archive - View Single Post - Can we lock down to paying members only at peak times?

OK, here what we got on our site. We have a usergroup we made called vip. This is tied to our subscription system. When a member donates to the site, they get instant vip. When our site gets hammered with users, we lock down to VIP only mode so we dont crash. The way we have been locking down vip is changing registered users and guests in usergroup manager to all NO's. Is there a way that we can restrict the site to just certain usergroups at peak times based on server loads automatically? Been looking for a hack on this but havent found anything.
