vb.org Archive - View Single Post - 301 to Forum Index acceptable?

I don't want to postpone my forum's launch just because I'm still heavily integrating and modifying my CMPS, so in the meantime (which will take another month, likely), I want MYSITE.COM to 301 REDIRECT to MYSITE.COM/FORUM. --That is: Those that go to my index are redirected to my forums as though my forums are the homepage.

Is there a more elegant way (through vbulletin?) or will this work fine even if it stays like this forever (knowing me!). And search engines have no trouble handling 301's, right?
