The front page is very well done and reflect the theme of your site perfectly. It does not seem to reflect much of the forum content, but that looks to the the intent. If I was first visiting the site I would not know it had a forum, or probably care as I would be looking at the other content available.

As for the forum it's self, there is not much advice I can offer. It is already well laid out and has a good design that reflects the site. The welcome message does not contain much info, but that is being handled on the front page.

Your focus at this point should be building up more back-links. The front page is not showing and Google PR, and only 5 back-links.
