As good as this navbar looks, I personally find that this coding technique makes it an extremely difficult and long-winded process to add extra buttons. Even when you go to the trouble of making the graphic and coding it in, it often looks "awry". I got around it by removing the navbar text from the header, and making the style a child of the default style. I also added the 2nd Navbar hack, and the overall effect blends in very well.
I've just got about got this style working right now - although there's a couple of minor amendments still to carry over from my test board.
