... and how will people find the coder's sites? What's to stop the them from finding one and getting ripped off there? Now you have even less leverage because it's not like you can post on his site saying he ripped you off (deleted post in 5 minutes).
Remember that only a small fraction of these jobs have any problems. Many community owners would be lost without the forum... do you guys have any idea how hard it is for them to find coders to do vbulletin modifications?
There are what... 10-15 well known coders that everyone (who is active here) knows takes custom jobs. They are nearly always busy. The other few thousand guys will be SOL.
Other freelance sites do offer more protection, but then you are hiring people who probably know little or nothing about vBulletin to do it instead of people who specialize in it.
Do your research before hiring. Don't take it out on the community by removing the forum.
