vBonjour is a portal or entrance to your site. Instead of your users and visitors being greeted with a list of forums, which can be quite daunting if you have quite a few, it shows them the latest news from one or two forums, who is online (via an add on), a navigation area (via an add on), the top posters, newest members and latest posts (via an add on), as well as a message for guests (via an add on) or for members (via an add on).

The idea is to make your site more user freindly by showing your users and visitors some up to date information about your site, which in turn will bring them into the site and hopefully register and start joining in with the threads which are highlighted on the vBonjour page.
